Knitted Garter Stitch Slippers

SIZES: Small, Medium, Large

Materials :

AMERICAN THREAD COMPANY
"AUNT LYDIA'S" HEAVY RUG YARN
2—70 yd. skeins (all sizes) Yellow
1 Pr. Knitting Needles No. 8 
OR ANY SIZE NEEDLE 
WHICH WILL RESULT IN STITCH GAUGE BELOW

GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch

Directions are given for small size.
Changes for medium and large sizes given in parentheses.

Tie one end, braid tightly, tie other end. Lace through beading. POMPONS: (Make 2.) Wind yarn 25 times over a 2¾ inch cardboard and tie in cen­ter. Cut both ends and trim into shape. Tie to each end of cord. Work another slipper in same manner.

Materials Required:

4-70 yd. skeins Black (Main Color)
1-70 yd. skein each Fern Green, 
Lilac and Watermelon (Contrasting Color)
1 Pr. Knitting Needles No. 8  
½ yd. lining
½ yd. buckram

GAUGE: 4 sts = 1 inch
PATTERN: 
1st ROW: With MC K 1, drop MC, keep yarn not being used to back of work, * with a CC K 3, with MC K 1, repeat from * across row. 2nd ROW: With MC K 1, keep yarn not being used to front of work, * with CC sl 1, P 1, sl 1, with MC K 1, repeat from * across row, cut CC. 3rd ROW: With MC K 2, * sl 1, K 3, repeat from * across row ending last repeat with K 2. 4th ROW: K 1, * P 3, K 1 repeat from * across row. 5th to 8th ROWS: K across each row. Repeat these 8 rows for pattern.
BAG
(Make 2.) With Black cast on 49 sts, K 2 rows: START PATTERN working in follow­ing color scheme: * 1st color stripe Fern Green, next Lilac and next Watermelon. Repeat from * twice; then work 1 more stripe in Fern Green. Complete pattern. Bind off.
FINISHING: 
Block both sections. Having wrong sides of bag facing, with Black sew 2 long and 1 short edge together.
LINING: 
Cut 2 sections of material ½ inch larger than bag. Cut 2 sections buckram same size as bag. Sew the 2 lining sections together along 2 long and 1 short edge. Place in bag, insert buckram sections, turn under a ¼ inch hem and sew lining to upper edge of bag.
HANDLE AND TRIM:
Cut six 90 inch lengths of each color. Tie one end of lengths together. Divide evenly in 3rds. Braid tightly keeping braid flat. Tie other end to form tassel. Starting at lower right corner of bag sew braid alongside edge to top of bag, skip 22 inches of braid for handle, sew braid to other side of bag allowing for tassel as illustrated.

Materials:
Royal Society Baby Pearl - 2 balls
Royal Mouline - 1 Skein of a Contrasting Color
Steel Crochet Hook No. 6
2 Small Pearl Buttons
Gauge - 10 sts make 1 inch; 11 Rows make 1 inch
Starting at neck edge, ch 100 to measure 10 inches.
1st Row - Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across (99 sc). Ch 1, turn.
2nd Row - Sc in back loop of 25 sts, ch 2, sc in back loop of next 17 sts, ch 2, sc in both loops of next 15 sts (center panel), ch 2, sc in back loop of next 17 sts, ch 2, sc in back loop of next 25 sts. Ch 1, turn.
3rd Row - (Sc in back loop of each st to next ch-2 sp, 3 sc in sp) twice (2 increases made). Sc in both loops of each st in center panel, 3 sc in sp (an increase), sc in back loop of each st across to next ch-2 sp, 3 sc in sp (an increase), sc in back loop of each remaining st. Ch 1, turn.
4th Row - (Sc in back loop of each st to center st of next 3-sc group, ch 2, sk center st of group) twice; sc in both loops of each st of center panel, ch 2, sk center st of 3-sc group, sc in back loop of each st across to center st of next 3-sc group, ch 2, sk center st, sc in back loop of each remaining st. Ch 1, turn
5th to 9th Rows incl - Repeat 3rd and 4th Rows alternately twice, then repeat 3rd Row once more. Fasten off, turn.
Attach thread in center st of first increase point.
Hereafter work back and forth to corresponding increase point on opposite side, continuing pattern and increases over the 2 center increase points, at the same time decreasing 1 st at both ends of every 3rd Row until bib measures 3 1/2 inches down center front - to decrease, work off 2 sc as 1 sc. Fasten off.
Edging
1st Row - Attach thread to neck edge at back, ch 1, sc in same place where thread was attached, (ch 6, sk ends of next 3 Rows, sc in end of next Row) twice (2 button loops made). Ch 5, * sk 1 sc, dc in next sc, ch 1. Repeat from * across to 1st increase point, then ** sk end of next Row, dc in end of following Row, ch 1. Repeat from ** across to corner; in corner make dc, ch 3 and dc. Continue in this manner along entire outer edge, ending with dc in last sc. Ch 1, turn.
2nd Row - Sc in 1st dc, * ch 4, 2 dc in last sc, sc in next sp. Repeat from * around to button loops on other end, make 5 sc in each loop. Fasten off. Sew on buttons.
Embroidery for Teddy Bears
Trace figures  onto light-weight paper. Pin in place on center panel. With only one strand of Royal Mouline, embroider figures through paper onto bib, using very small outline stitches.
